Medicare & Regulatory Policies
Q. What is the "No Surprises Act?"
A. Starting January 1, 2022 consumers will have new billing protections when getting emergency care, non emergency care from out of network providers at in network facilities, and air ambulance services from out of net work providers. These requirements generally apply to items and services provided to people enrolled in goup health plans, group or individual health insurance coverage, Federal Employees Health Benefits plans and the uninsured (private pay). The rule does not apply to people with coverage through programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, Indian Health Services or VA. These programs already prohibit balance billing. LEARN MORE
